At loft on main, our core values are the foundation for all we are and all we do. They are integrated into the fabric of our very being. All facilitators sign an agreement that they will uphold these values in their teachings. It is the standard we set for everyone involved - students and teachers alike.
We believe all people have inherent dignity, and we intentionally behave in ways that honor their dignity. We accept all people, regardless of religion, race, gender, age, socio-economic status, and sexual orientation, and go out of our way to make all people feel welcome. What we offer at loft on main is for everyone.
The world is filled with opportunities where we are expected to compete and strive. At loft on main, we see the mat (and chair) as a place of surrender. Surrendering to who we are and where we are at each moment. There are many places of yoga and teaching that create a striving, competitive environment. Loft on Main is a place to rest from that type of environment. We extend grace to our students and to each other.
We believe to experience stability in motion in life, we need to intentionally integrate body, mind, heart and spirit into everything we teach and do. When you come to a yoga class, in addition to the asanas (poses), you will receive guidance on deep breathing and a heart meditation. When you come to a meditation and mindful class, we will first start with ways to ground our bodies, and provide self-reflection exercises to dig deeper into your own heart. We call these integrated practices.
We intentionally include, partner with, and lift up individuals and communities who are experiencing oppression, poverty, inequity, and persecution. This can be during an individual’s participation in a class, by supporting initiatives we will highlight throughout the year, and by encouraging students to purchase goods from our retail corner. See our LOFT page for more details.
